The Design. Why Every Detail Is There.

When I tested the early prototypes of the Marli, I kept noticing the same thing: I was still digging. The structure was not right yet. I went through six versions before the interior logic clicked.

Here is what I landed on, and why.

The tri-fold design was non-negotiable for me. I wanted it compact when closed and genuinely spacious when open. Not generous-for-its-size. Actually spacious. The kind of open that means you can see everything at once.

The dual zip compartments exist because I noticed I always reach for the same few things at different moments in the day. Morning routine and touch-up routine are not the same kit. They should not live in the same place.

The dedicated brush section is personal. I have expensive brushes. I have ruined expensive brushes by letting them roll loose inside pouches where the bristles crush and the handles scratch everything else. The brush section exists because I was tired of that.

The clip-on attachment came from a specific memory: reaching into my tote during a meeting and my ugly pouch shifting to the bottom under everything else, and having to half-unpack the bag to get it.

Why I Did Not Want to Make Another Commodity Pouch

I need to be honest about something.

When I first started designing the Marli, I looked at what was on the market. There is no shortage of makeup pouches. Hundreds of them. Many of them very functional. Some of them beautiful in a generic way.

What I noticed, when I tested them properly, was that none of them were designed for the specific transition I kept living through. The professional-to-personal switch. The boardroom-to-dinner pivot. The 17 hours of continuous movement that is a normal day for the kind of woman I was designing for, and for whom I am designing.

Most of them were designed to sit in a bathroom. Mine is designed to move and move from day to night.

I have been the only woman in a room full of men. I have reapplied lipstick in a bathroom mirror before walking back into something that mattered. I have taken the 5am airport call and the 10pm hotel desk and the school pickup in between. I know what it costs to keep it all moving. The Marli is not a pouch. It is a small decision I made on your behalf so you have one less thing to sort out at the end of an already full day.

That is what makes it not a commodity. Anybody can make a pouch with a zip. Not everybody has lived what this pouch was designed for.

The best thing I can say about the Marli is this: I do not think about it anymore.

I pack it once. I clip it in. When evening arrives, I unclip it and carry it. That is the whole system. I use mine every single day this way and the fact that I have stopped noticing it is, I think, the best review I could give any product I have made.

How to Use the Marli as an Evening Clutch

No trick. No system to learn. That was a design requirement.

In the morning, clip the Marli into your tote. Fill it once. Essentials in the first compartment, touch-up pieces in the second, brushes in their section.

When the evening starts, unclip it. Carry it. The compact closed form sits in your hand or tucks under your arm. The gold zips do the rest. You walk into wherever you are going composed, not apologetic about what you are carrying.

I have done this in airport lounges, hotel lobbies, and restaurant bathrooms where I did a final check in a mirror that was actually good light for once. The Marli moves through all of it without skipping.

The Colours. Why I Chose These Three.

I am particular about colour. I chose three for the Marli because I wanted every woman to have one that felt like hers, not like the only option.

Charcoal was the first colourway I developed. It is classic, works with everything, disappears into a dark outfit and reappears as the accent when you carry it independently. I wear mine with black suiting and it reads as intentional.

Driftwood is the one I reach for when I want something coastal and warm. Against pale linen or on a resort morning or in the natural light of a window in a city hotel that is trying its best, Driftwood looks expensive in a way that does not announce itself. I find that interesting in a colour.

Mulberry has a point of view. It is the colourway I was most uncertain about and then, when I held the sample, most certain about. Deep, considered, unapologetic. The one you choose when you want the pouch to carry some of the statement for you.
